Dr Julian Theng is a consultant ophthalmologist and medical director of Eagle Eye Centre in Singapore.
Well-respected by many for his dedication and outstanding surgical skills, Dr Theng is one of the highest-volume surgeons in Singapore. He has performed thousands of cataract, LASIK and cornea transplant surgeries and is highly regarded in the areas of the refractive surgery, cornea surgery and cataract surgery.
Dr Theng has recorded many outstanding and commendable achievements in his medical career, especially in the areas of complex artificial cornea transplant surgery and treatment of presbyopia. He was one of the only two surgeons in Singapore involved in performing the “tooth-in-eye’ surgery, bringing sight back to a patient who suffered from extreme bilateral cornea blindness. Dr Julian Theng has also performed numerous multi-focal lens implants and is a much sought after speaker for medical conferences globally and locally.
Upon graduating from the National University of Singapore in 1992 with an MBBS degree, he went on to complete his fellowship examinations in Singapore and in London, obtaining the MMED (Ophth) and FRCS (Edinburgh) as well as the FRCOphth (in London) postgraduate degrees, including a special module in refraction and optics. From 1995 to 2006, Dr Julian Theng was with the Singapore National Eye Centre, holding the appointment as Consultant Ophthalmologist at Singapore National Eye Centre from 2003.
Dr. Theng, 39, is now the medical director of the Eagle Eye Centre (EEC) at Mount Alvernia Hospital, Singapore. The Centre offers a complete comprehensive range of ophthalmology treatment and services and is a one stop centre for treatment of presbyopia.
A devoted Christian, and a loving husband and father to his family, Dr Theng believes in a balanced lifestyle. He serves as a deacon in Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church, and he makes time for sports, hobbies and interests which includes athletics and tennis, cooking, fishing, music and singing, performing frequently at weddings, hospital functions and commercial as well as church drama-musical productions. Dr Theng was part of Singapore National tennis team before, and had captained the NUS tennis team for 3 years. He still plays tennis competitively.

Dr Julian Theng has written a new book on Presbyopia and is available at all major bookstore in Singapore.
