My recommendation for must visit attractions in Asia - Xian China
"Highly recommended to all history buffs!"
Xián has more than 3100 years of history! It was the capital of ancient China for 13 dynasties! A true historical and cultural centre indeed! You will definitely get to know more about China’s culture and history in Xián!
I visited my dad regularly when he was posted to Beijing from 2005 to 2007. I spent a week at Xian on my own during one of these trips.
Don’t miss Emperor Qin’s mausoleum. Emperor Qin is one of the most famous emperors in Chinese history. He unified China more than 2000 years ago. Of course, the world famous terracotta warriors and horses are a huge draw.
Do not miss the Da Yan Ta too! According to legends, the characters in the famous Chinese literature Xi You Ji or Journey to the West visited the Da Yan Ta during their journey to obtain scriptures in the west!
This itinerary is not recommended for those who do not enjoy Chinese culture or history!
Useful information for travel in Xi an, China
Entrance fee to Emperor Qin’s Mausoleum is expensive at RMB100.
In general, stay in 3-star hotels will do. It’s basic and clean. Good for budget travellers.
The terracotta figurines are widely available in Xián, so do compare the prices before you make your purchase!
