Joy's Travel Notes About Bangkok
Sa wat dii kha. Want to know what are the top reasons why my friends visit Bangkok? It's the shopping and spas.
Bangkok is another popular ‘shopping and massage’ destination near to Singapore. With all those Bangkok Hotel Deals going round, this is a relatively cheap destination, even if you stay in a modern 5-star hotel.
A must-go in Bangkok is the Floating Market, where you can Thais selling their fruits and other fresh produce on boats. This is a popular attraction simply because it is so 'Thai'. But this market is opened early in the morning only.
If you like the cultural and spiritual side of Bangkok, then a visit to the Grand Palace is a must. This temple houses the Emerald Buddha, the most revered image in Thailand.
Another must-go I hear is the Chatuchak Weekend Market, opened only on …weekends. This is one of the largest markets in the world. Another market is the Patpong Night Market, with numerous watches, bags and clothes. Yet another is the Suan Lum Night Bazaar, which is less crowded than Chatuchak.
When it comes to spas, most of them can be found in your hotel. But independant ones can be just as good and probably cheaper.
