Joy's Bangkok Travel Notes

Bangkok is one of the most popular holiday destination among my friends, and definitely one of my "to-visit" places. And why not? It's near (to SIngapore), it's cheap (with all those great Bangkok deals). But best of all, it's where you shop for bags, clothes and shoes at steal prices. And after that, indulge in a Thai massage, before you tuck into some spicy Thai food.

Family Fun in Bangkok

Most Bangkok familly-friendly attractions are outside the main city area, so transport has to be arranged.

Some places to bring the kids and the teens:

Dreamworld

  • A small theme park far north of town.
  • Has thrill rides and other activities for older kids but most attractions are aimed at those under 10
  • Has a slight ‘Disneyland’ feel because of the costumed staff and cartoon architecture
  • Not too crowded because of its location

Siam Park

  • Theme park on the northeastern edge of town, not far from Safari World.
  • Main feature is the water park with slides, wave pool and a beach
  • Also has a large bird park and double-decker merry go round.
  • Best to avoid weekends and public holidays as it can get crowded

Safari World

  • Located on the northern part of town.
  • A huge drive-through safari park with animals and stunt shows
  • Has guided tours in air conditioned buses

Siam Ocean World

  • A huge aquarium located within a shopping mall, Siam Paragon.
  • Displays salt and fresh water fish.

Dusit Zoo (Suan Sut)

  • Central location
  • Popular with locals and famililes
  • Take the Skytrain to Victory Monument station, then grab a taxi for the short trip to the zoo.

Crocodile Farm

  • The world's largest crocodile farm
  • Also has elephants, tigers and other animals
  • Located in the Samuit Prakan province
