Bangkok Lumphini Park

Bangkok Lumphini Park Quick Facts:

• A beauttiful park with trees, lakes, lawns and gardens and fresh air.

• Come here early in the morning or in the evening and see locals exercising or practiciing tai chi. An interesting sight is the outdoors aerobic classes here as masses exercise to Thai techno music.

• Facilities: open-air gyms, takraw (similar t volleyball but played with the fee) courts, and pedalos.

• You can row the pedalos on the lake and feed the carps

Bangkok Lumphin Park Sights:

• Statue of Rama VI facing Silom.  In 1925, Rana VI donated this piece of land to Thailand as a public park and showground. Also look out for the Chinese style clocktower built in 1925.

• Between the statue of Rama VI and the Chinese pagoda in the Sathorn corner is a ‘ball-fountain’ that never stops turning.

• On the Floating Island (Loy Koy), RamaVI planted a native plant from every region in Thailand!

• Lumphini Park also has a stadium (Lumphini Stadium) where Muay Thai events are regularly held.

• The park also houses the first public library in Thailand.
