• Millions around the globe are expected to watch this mega sports event of the year.

• Competitions will be held in more than 30 venues, with more than 300 sports events.

• The Olympic Green is the site of the National Stadium.  With it’s ring-like shape and crisscross structure, the National Stadium is said to resemble a giant bird’s nest.  ;)

• It has a capacity of 80,000.

• Besides the Olympic Green, there’ll be events taking place in 6 other Chinese cities.

• Football prelim rounds will be held in Tianjin, Shenyang, Shanghai and Qinhuangdao.

• The Olympic Museum exhibits unique objects which recount the background of the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games.

• You can buy Olympic collectibles and memorabilia like pins and badges.

• The Canadian Olympic Committee will send 200-250 athletes to the event.

• The Games mascot, Fu Wa or good luck dolls is becoming a popular toy in China, Macau and Hong Kong.
