This city is often overlooked by tourists by is one of the most backpacker-friendly destinations.
Founded by the French. You can still see influence of French architecture.
The legacy left behind by the 'American War' are the bridges. Each bridge is built by a different nationality (French, American, etc)
Most of the recent developments are near the city beaches. E.g beach resorts and shops.
The city is very very laid back …
