In the morning, we will drive from Hotel to Chuandixia Village. The village, literally clinging to the side of a mountain, is renowned for its well preserved Ming and Qing dynasty-style houses built on the traditional pattern of four houses surrounding a courtyard. The courtyard is paved with square-shaped tiles hiding a cellar for vegetables, grains and fruit underneath it. To see these old houses, you have to climb the steep stairs and lanes paved with rocks. The pathways leading through the village are framed by little stonewalls and the 80 people still living in the village can quench their thirst with amazingly clear and tasty water coming out of two deep springs.
The village is listed as a village under national level cultural relics protection. Walk around in this peaceful village, chat with the villagers, and enjoy a typical homemade lunch in the courtyard house.
