Volunteer opportunity in Beijing orphanage school, home to orphans, handicapped and autism children and young adult.

 

The charity for children and young adults with disabilities helps those who are mentally challenged. Giving them a chance to give back to the community and help improve the living standard of their family.

 

The orphanage school is home to 25 children aged between 3 to 12 years old.

 

The programmes are customized to incorporate independence in the students’. The program covers arts and crafts, music and athletics. There are also excursions to libraries, youth centres, elderly centres, sports grounds and markets which are in the vicinity to help the disabled be a part of the community. The handicapped students are also given a chance to earn money and gain experience as they make handicraft items ranging from cards to gifts. This also helps in boosting the self-esteem of the students.

 

There are also welcome programs by the handicapped students for visitors, they also have tricycle rides to tour around the old streets of Beijing, also known as Hutongs. In this way, they contribute to the charity and not just receive.

 

The charity for autistic children is China’s first private educational organization for autistic children. With the hope to give them a chance to progress and lead life like a normal person.

 

As volunteers overseas, you will take part in teaching English, assist in the handicraft, arranging welcome programs as well as looking after the students, and provide assistance when needed.

 

Volunteers may teach English, or assist the students with reading, writing, eating, playing, and wherever help is needed.

 

Providing them with education such as English, drawing, and musical instruments, or as a helper.

 

Those who have a heart for the less fortunate especially children, should be a part of the volunteer program. Also suitable for gap year students, career breakers and senior volunteers.
